The “Cathay Pacific Swiss Privilege Hong Kong Squash Open 2006” one of the most prestigious events in the world squash calendar, takes place at the Hong Kong Squash Centre, Central and the Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill from 16 to 22 October 2006.

Presented by Hong Kong Squash, the week-long sporting extravaganza consists of a strong field of world class professionals of both men and women. It is one of the most popular “Platinum” tournaments in the world squash calendar that combines the two events.

It is expected that the world's top 30 players, from the Women's International Squash Players Association as well as the Professional Squash Association, will be in the SAR this Autumn vying for a total winning purse of HK$1.4 million.

A brand-new all-glass, portable, clear-view squash court will be erected in the Stars Atrium of Plaza Hollywood, one of the biggest shopping malls in Hong Kong , when the tournament reaches the semi-finals and final stages. People from all walks of life will have the opportunity to view the top class event when shopping at the mall, while players will also encounter a kind of new experience of playing in front of a big crowd. Hong Kong Squash wishes to acknowledge the generous donation from "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust" for this new portable glass court.

The Hong Kong Open is highly popular with the domestic and international squash community. A large contingent of players, coaches, families, fans and international media will come to Hong Kong to enjoy this spectacular event.
