Main Draws Kick Off Tomorrow

(2.12.2013) Our home favourite, Max Lee, gains one of the places in the main draw of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2013 after beating Andrew Wagih Shoukry 11-5, 6-11, 3-11, 11-5 and 11-8 at the qualifying round today.

“I am pleased that I get through at the end. Though he lost his first game, he plays better and better. I am so nervous. When I am 4/0 down in the 5th, I just keep on telling myself that I am still at 0/0. I hope there will be less pressure for me in the next round, but I want to do good, I want to improve my ranking,” said Max who is currently ranked number 36. He will face another Egyptian, Tarek Momen, the eighth seed at the first round of the main draw which will be held on Wednesday, 4 December.

The men's and women's main draw will start tomorrow at 1:30pm at Hong Kong Squash Centre.

For the men's, the top half kicks off first where the top seed and the world number one Ramy Ashour will meet the qualifier, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan from Malaysia at 7:30pm, while the local hero, Leo Au will meet the fifth seed Mohamed El Shorbagy from Egypt at 5:15pm. Shorbagy has just won the Qatar Classic 2013 in November.

The women's will start with the bottom half tomorrow. Seed number 2 Laura Massaro from England will meet Coline Aumard from France at 6:45pm. Local star, Annie Au will meet the Egyptian Yathreb Adel who beats Laura Pomportes in straight at the qualifying round today.
