Nicol David and Nick Matthew Triumph in the Hong Kong Open

(8.12.2013) Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2013 has finally come to a successful end. In front of the Victoria Harbour with all the Christmas lighting as the backdrop, the four finalists showed the crowd the great squash. More than 500 audiences also witnessed the victory of Nicol David and Nick Matthew.

The final between Nicol David and Raneem El Weleily is the repeat of the 2011's Hong Kong Open Final. Raneem , the second-time Hong Kong Open finalist lost in three games at 7-11, 7-11 and 10-12 and let Nicol claim her 8th Hong Kong Open Champion in a row. "It's a pleasure to play in Hong Kong. Thank you very much for the support of the crowd!" said delighted Nicol.

The Men's Final comes right after the Women's. Nick's wish to play in the final in the glass court in front of the harbour since his first play in 2004 is finally granted tonight at his final against Borja Golan at the Hong Kong Open. He is not just playing in the final, but also winning to claim his ever-first Hong Kong title by beating the seventh seed Borja Golan 11-1 8-11, 11-5 and 11-5 . 

Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after. Mr. David Mui, MH, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash and President of Asian Squash Federation, Mr. James Barrington, Director Corporate Development, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Mr. William Leung Wing-Cheung, BBS, JP, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Sun Hung Kai Financial, Mr. William Ko, Chairman, Major Sports Events Committee and Mr. Simon Tang, Corporate Resources Director, Fuji Photo Products Co. Ltd. are the honourable guests to present the prizes to the finalists.
