Nicol David and Mohamed Elshorbagy crowned in the Hong Kong Open

(31.08.2014) Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2014 has finally come to a successful end. Four finalists showcased two unbelievable great squash in front of the crowd at the brand new glass court. More than 700 audiences witnessed the triumph of Nicol David and Mohamed Elshorbagy.

The Men's Final came before the Women's. Elshorbagy appeared in his first final and eventually won his ever first title in the glass court against the world No. 1 Gregory Gaultier at the Hong Kong Open. The battle between the first two seeds were in a dramatic climax when Gaultier came back in the third and fourth at 11-4 and 11-8 after being led by Mohamed Elshorbagy in the first two at 11-9 and 11-2. Elshorbagy showed his determination in the fifth and pulled away Gaultier at 11-4 to claim his second title in a week. 

The women's final between Nicol David and Nour El Tayeb was fierce as expected; though Nicol took the first set at 11-4, Tayeb pressured her in the second which led Nicol to narrowly win at a tie–break at 12-10. Being more experienced, Nicol managed to hold her rhythm until the last to finish the game at 11-8. Nicol David extended her winning run in Hong Kong to claim her 9th successive Champion title. "It feels really great to win another title in Hong Kong!" said delighted Nicol. 

Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after. Mr. David Mui, MH, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash and President of Asian Squash Federation, Mr. James Barrington, Director Corporate Development, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Mr. William Leung Wing-Cheung, BBS, JP, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Sun Hung Kai Financial, Mr. William Ko, Chairman, Major Sports Events Committee and Mr. Stanley Sun, Managing Director of Fujiphoto Products Co. Limited are the honourable guests to present the prizes to the finalists.
