(05.12.2015) The men’s and women’s finalists of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2015, are set after four thrilling yet exciting semi-final matches in the portable glass court at the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre today.
The defending champion, Nicol David who aimed at claiming her 10th consecutive champion title and Mohamed Elshorbagy both marched to the finals tomorrow comfortably by defeating Omenya Abdel Kawy and Omar Mossad at a straight 11-4,11-5,11-2 and 11-4,11-6, 11-9 respectively.
Another women’s finalists went to the Englishwoman Laura Massaro who dumped out the current World No. 1 Raneem El Welily in straight 11-5, 11-4, 11-8. She recorded to reach three World Series finals in a row beside Qatar Classic and U.S Open in this year. Laura Massaro will meet Nicol David at 2:30pm tomorrow in the Women’s Final.
Cameron Pilley, the unseeded player, gave the stunning upset again today when he defeated the second seed Nick Matthew at a close straight 11-9, 13-11 and 12-10 in the last semi-finals. This will be his first World Series final appearance playing against Mohamed Elshorbagy.
The finals of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2015 will move to the glass court at Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. The matches will start from 3pm onwards. All the tickets have been sold out.
