(06.12.2015) Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2015 has finally come to a successful end. Four finalists showcased two unbelievable great squash in front of the crowd at the brand new glass court. More than 700 audiences witnessed the triumph of Nicol David and Mohamed Elshorbagy.
The Women's Final came before the Men's. The true battle between Nicol David and Laura Massaro was fierce as expected; they started the match intensively as they change the lead several times however, Nicol manage to get the crucial balls to win the first set at 15-13. After that, Nicol dominated in the second and third to end the game at 11-5 and 11-3. Nicol David extended her winning strike in Hong Kong to retain her 10th consecutive Champion title. "This is one of my best performance for a while and I want to win it so badly so the victory means very special for me." said an emotional Nicol.
For the men’s final, Mohamed Elshorbagy appeared in his second Hong Kong Open final in a row and stopped the winning run of Cameron Pilley at a straight 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 to defense his champion title. “I am pleased to retain my title and finish my year with a great performance. I will definitely be back every year.” said a delighted Elshorbagy.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after. Mr. David Mui, MH, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash, Mr. Christopher Gibbs, Engineering Director of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., Mr. William Leung Wing-Cheung, BBS, JP, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Sun Hung Kai Financial, Ms. Michelle Li, JP, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Mr. William Ko, Chairman, Major Sports Events Committee and Miss Petty Lai, Acting Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs are the honourable guests to present the prizes to the finalists.
Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2016 will be held on Aug 21 - 28, 2016.
