The quarter finals of the Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2016 is first introduced to the portable four sided glass court at Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. Four semi-finalists in each draw are revealed and local hero Max Lee once again made the history to the semi-finals in the World Series Event for the first time.
The world no.18 Max Lee continued his incredible performances tonight in the last men’s quarters against Fares Dessouky by eliminating him at another exciting four games in front of the ecstatic home crowds. “I am very excited to come through to the semi-finals stage in front of all the amazing home crowds. After the disappointing season, I am being through the transition and I will be just focus on playing my game well and keep the consistence on every match in order to be a better player.” Max will face Ramy Ashour who also produced a confidence wins over Simon Rosner in four games as well.
In the women's event, Amanda Sobhy and Nour El Tayeb came on court to start off the quarters today, the American Women’s No.1 who stopped at the quarters last year, defeated the finalists of 2014 in a straight game within half hours. She will encounter the first seed and world champion, Nour El Sherbini who outplayed her fellow Omneya Abdel Kawy at straight as well.
Another semi-final will go between Nicol David and Nouran Gohar. The tenth-time title winner pulled off her superb unbeaten run by beating Camile Serme in four games though Serme came back one from 2 games down, the experienced Nicol managed to edge the fourth at a fast 11-2 whereas the young Egyptian upset the Englishwoman and second seed, Laura Massaro in a dramatic five games affair.
In addition to Max Lee and Ramy Ashour contest in the men’s semi-final, the unseeded player Ryan Cuskelly dispatched the former No.1 James Willstop in a tactical four games. His opponent of tomorrow’s semis would be the only seeded player in the men’s draw, Karim Abdel Gaward with his sharp form ended the winning run of Cameron Pilley by an impressive four games.
The semi - finals of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2016 will continue to stage at the glass court in Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. The matches will start from 230pm onwards. All the prime seats tickets have been sold out.
