(27.08.2016) The men’s and women’s finalists of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2016 are determined after four wonderful semi-final matches in the portable glass court at the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre today. The tremendous journey of the home favourites, Max Lee has been through this week came to an end.
Hong Kong men’s No.1 Max Lee was halted by the two-time champion Ramy Ashour of Egypt at a straight. Max Lee is delighted of having an amazing start in the season and looks forward to having more to come in the following tournaments.
This would be an all-Egyptian men’s final this year while Ramy Ashour will meet Karim Abdel Gaward who beat the Aussie Ryan Cuskelly in four games today.
New faces are emerged in the finals in women's event as the Malaysia legend, Nicol David who has been dominating the tournament for the past decade is forced to end her reign as the fifth seed Nouran Gohar swept her away in four games. Being from two games down at 9-11 and 7-11, Nicol David once pulled hard to take back in the third at 13-11however, the young Egyptian star stayed determined to take back the control in the fourth to complete at 11-9. This is the first time of Gohar to enter the finals. She will be meeting Amanda Sobhy of United States in the final tomorrow. Sobhy dumped out the current World No. 1 and World Champion Nour El Sherbini in straight 12/10, 11/5, 11/6.
The finals of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open 2016 will be at the glass court at Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. The matches will start from 4pm onwards. All the prime seats tickets have been sold out.
